Take a Lesson with Our Teaching Pros!

Sunrise Pickleball Club has partnered with some fantastic local instructors in order to provide lessons to members. You will find them on Court 6 during designated days/times.

Instructors are donating 10% of their proceeds back to the club, and volunteering their time to teach the club's free Pickleball 101 clinics.

Brian is an IPTPA certified teaching pro who has been playing pickleball for over 6 years and teaching for 3 years. He has trained with some of the top pros, including Scott Moore and Sarah Ansboury, and has won gold medals at the 4.5 level. He is known for his technical skills and encouraging words.  He is sought out for his knowledge on the soft game and teaches patience and smart play.

Positive Dinking is the teaching duo of best "dinking buddies" Mo Nard and Reine Steel. They always teach as a team, not only to bring different strengths and perspectives, but because it's more fun! They are both PCI Certified Instructors, and Mo is also a PPR Certified Pro. They are nationally recognized as co-authors of the book Pickleball For Dummies and recently worked for Nike Sports Camps as assistant coaches to Mark Renneson. Mo and Reine are members of Team Head and compete at the 4.5 level.

Ian Dickson is a former professional racquetball player who has been playing pickleball for over 10 years. He is a 5.0 rated, 3 time USAPA National Champion and 5 time medalist, among many other tournament honors.  An Engage sponsored player and Engage Camps clinician, he is also an IPTPA Certified Level ll Pickleball Teaching Professional.

Samantha Martinez is a PPR Certified instructor, a USA Pickleball Ambassador, and member of Team Selkirk. She has been playing for five years and has medaled at the 4.5 and 5.0 levels.  Samantha continually studies from the top pros to bring innovation and new ideas to her students while combining past experiences. Most recently she trained privately with Riley and Lindsey Newman, the current top brother/sister team in the world!

Doug Koch has been teaching pickleball in the greater Sacramento area since 2012. He has medaled in the Senior(50+) Pro Men's Doubles and Senior Pro Mixed Doubles at the Golden State Championships and has 6 medals in USA Pickleball National's in Singles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Doug is IPTPA Level 2 Certified and a member of Team Selkirk. Before pickleball, Doug coached youth soccer, basketball, and track & field and taught University and Corporate Software Classes.

Kelly Andrews is an IPTPA certified teaching professional. She started playing pickleball at SPC in 2018. She comes from a tennis background and taught Iyengar Yoga for 20 years, including UC Riverside Teacher Training Program and owning The Little Yoga Studio in Lake Arrowhead, California. She emphasizes high-percentage play through shot selection and proper mechanics to create a solid foundation.

Alex Chan is a Level II IPTPA certified teaching professional who has been playing for 2 years and competing at the 5.0 level, thanks to prior experience with badminton and table tennis. Her favorite aspects to teach are strategy and playing smart pickleball. She previously played college basketball and coached high school varsity girl’s basketball before making the transition to pickleball.
