    SPC Ladder Play

    By Reine Steel, 09/03/2020

Ladders leagues are organized leagues in which players with relatively similar skills compete against each other in a competitive, structured and, typically, weekly format. Think of a pickleball “ladder” as a graphical representation of a player’s ranking (by skill and performance) over a period of time (10 weeks, for example). The rungs on the ladder represent a player’s current position (ranking) on the ladder relative to the other players — with the top rung of the ladder being the individual or team currently ranked the highest (the best winning percentage) and the bottom rung being the lowest- ranked individual or team.

Times for the Ladders are as follows:

    Monday Morning - 9:00am and 10:30am

Funds Raised for Kingsley Lee Memorial Bench

    By Reine Steel, 06/23/2020

The Sacramento pickleball community was incredibly saddened to learn of the sudden passing of one of our most beloved members, Kingsley Lee.

Kingsley was a fixture on our courts. A highly skilled player, he loved the competition, but it never overshadowed his love for people and the game. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and laughter.

FUNDS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY RAISED to install a memorial bench and plaque at the Rusch Park courts.  Thank you to everyone who donated!!

Starting Friday, May 29th, 6 of the 12 pickleball courts at Rusch Park will be open.

UPDATE: All 12 courts are now open. Lights will return July 13th.

The Park District has established the following guidelines for play. Please read them in full and abide by them when on the courts.

    SUNRISE PICKLEBALL CLUB COVID-19 POLICIES/GUIDELINES

In accordance with the County of Sacramento Health Directive, all social distancing and sanitation requirements for players are in effect. Sunrise Pickleball Club and Sunrise Recreation and Park District remind all players that following these policies and guidelines is each player’s responsibility.

    1. It is recommended by the County of Sacramento Health Department to maintain social distancing (no closer than 6’ to each other).
    2. Singles ONLY, no doubles. Only 2 players allowed per court.
    3. If you or family members have displayed any symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please stay home. If you are vulnerable or have any underlying health conditions, do not play pickleball.
    4. Court access
      1. Courts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 (public court) and 11 will be open for play from approximately 6:30 a.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.
      2. Access to each court will be from the exterior gate that leads to the open court.
      3. All interior gates of the complex will continue to remain locked.
      4. The lights at the pickleball courts will remain turned off.
      5. To accommodate for parking, the front portion of the Rusch Park parking lot on Auburn Boulevard will be the only lot open.
      6. The restroom next to the pickleball courts will also open to assist players’ ability to sanitize and stay safe.
    5. You may touch only your own equipment and pickleballs. Use your own hand sanitizer before and after play.
    6. Mark or number your pickleballs with a magic marker for easy identification. Only serve your own ball. If you need to give someone back a ball to serve, use racket or foot.
    7. It is recommended to wear a face covering prior to and after playing. It is also recommended to wear a face mask while playing if possible.
    8. It is recommended to wear sunglasses or safety glasses.
    9. It is recommended to wear a glove on your non-paddle hand.
    10. Bring your own water; the fountain is unavailable.
    11. Avoid any contact with other players. No tapping paddles as play ends.
    12. Do not congregate near court openings when waiting to play.
    13. No congregating after play. Stay social distanced.
    14. Keep your hands from touching your face and sanitize them often.
    15. Bring your own alcohol wipes or hand sanitizer to disinfect balls and your hands between games or after play.
    16. Visitors, as well as members of Sunrise Pickleball Club, must abide by the guidelines.
